The Dog Knows…

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

One night while surfing the net, I came across some sites with some funny pictures. I’ll post some here once in a while.

Here’s a good one to start things off. HA

I must clarify that this was an image that I found off of the internet (afunworld[dot]com to be exact), I credit them. smile

I picked up the new Ying Yang Twins CD at BestBuy on Friday. Not too bad… I was expecting a lil bit more ‘bump’ to the CD, but all in all… plenty of low frequency. smile

Any of you game lovers out there may be interested to know that the Doom series is coming to the movie screen. Click here to see a trailer of the movie. It looks like The Rock is going to be in the movie. I think that guy does a good job. Thanks for pointing me to the site Mike.

Who doesn’t like the game Lemmings?!! Play Lemmings on the internet Here.

I’m trying to read more books ’cause I R smart. I’m edumacated.

New Monitor / New Room Arrangement

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Monday was the day that my new monitor was to be delivered. It came via UPS instead of my favorite carrier FedEX. Anyway, I saw it had been put on the truck at 5:30 in the morning and had the status of “out for delivery” for almost the entire day. My dad sent me an e-mail at around 4:45 saying that my package from Dell had just arrived at the house. What a relief! After getting some gaming in with Mike, I spent just about the entire night setting up the new monitor and rearranging things in my room to get the most use out of the new screen. I have to say, so far I’m very pleased with the purchase and I’m very glad I’d done some ‘homework’ on the LCD products to pick out this gem. (maybe I should get another one?)

I’ll admit that I haven’t been very supportive of LCD screens up until this point. Mostly because the screens havn’t had this level of quality for so cheap. Don’t get me wrong, it does come with a hefty price tag, but considering the amount of hours I log infront of my computers, it’s money well spent.

Here are a few pictures of the new set-up with the new monitor.

I hope things can get settled in around her now that all the moving around is done…. What game to fire up next….

As forecasted, the Weekend was a hot one.

Friday night I went to the movies. Saw War of the Worlds. Pretty good movie. Special effects were amazing, but I didn’t like a few scenes in the movie with the daughter of the ‘hero’. Great movie overall… definitely worth seeing on the big screen IMO. Durning the movie I had recieved a call from Kari and Linda. Sounds like they were out having a good time. It was good to hear from them.

I spent all most all of Saturday away from my computer. Took care of a bunch of things around the (inside of the) house. Making way for my new toy, a 24″ wide screen LCD computer monitor. I was able to get rid of a big bag of junk. woohoo. Saturday night I met up with Brian and Mike at BWW to hear about their quick trip to Six Flags near Chicago. Sounds like it has quite the awesome rollercoasters.

Sunday was pretty relaxed. We did some grilling… Chicken was quite good. I caught up on some sleep. I very large cold front came through the midwest that brought with it pretty strong storms and lot of lightning. Only had one power glitch durning the storm, but it was enough to make me lose my internet connection for a few minutes. No big deal. Surprisingly, my computer didn’t miss a beat… can’t quite explain that. I think I’ll invest in some UPSs. Better safe than sorry!!

What kind of dog are you?

Visit Gone2TheDogs.com
Click on the second link down on the left side of the page called ‘Game’. There are instructions on how to run ‘the machine’ after you click on the game link.

My Results:
Dog Name: Bracco Italiano (Italian Setter)

Origins: Italy. The Italian Pointer is a very old breed and may be one of the earliest gun dog types. It has a most attractive hound-like apperance with pendulous ears and a kindly expression.

Personality: This is a good natured, intelligent dog. Docile yet powerful it makes the ideal combination of family pet and working animal.

hmmm not too far off… now if I only knew what pendulous ears meant.

Check it out and post your results back here!!

My latest purchase shipped today. woohoo. I hope it was a good buy. *crosses fingers*

Stinky | Low Frequency

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

While driving to work the other day there was this terrible smell. The smell like manure being spread in the spring or the fall… well it’s JULY! As I closed in on a big group of vehicles on the highway (going slower than I) I noticed a couple of trucks holding up the works. It turns out that one of them had a very large load of manure that just had to moved. As i worked my way to the front of the pack of vehicles, the look on everyones face will be something that I will not soon forget. Everyone seemed to be holding their breath and squinting, some even seemed to be throwing small tantrums. Luckily I wasn’t stuck behind the manure truck for too long… and driving with the windows down exchanges the air pretty quick in my small car.

That night I found a song on one of my CDs that has such a low frequency that you don’t really hear it… you kinda just feel it… shake the car. mmmmmmm

Did some gaming with Mike last night… That has been way too long. I’m not gonna say that I’m losing interest in SWG… but I’d like to play some other games too. Keep a variety on the ole PC.

I made a purchase last night (this morning) that, as always, I probably shouldn’t have done. I’ll write more about that when it get here and all hooked up… maybe even a picture.

I should be going to bed before 7:30 in the morning. cripes!

A to Zinc

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

Well well well, where does the time go?!! Last week went fast! Our new neighbors a couple houses down have a puppy. I think it’s a Great Dane. Very uncordinated yet. Needless to say Estes and it have been becoming buddys. I haven’t heard it bark too much yet. Lets hope it’s not a barker like Estes is.

Weekend went well. Got my hair cut real short, mowed the lawn… in the heat! HAWT! Got some BWW with Brian. Hung out with Estes on Sunday… we wern’t having any of that heat. The Schmidt Gold Tourny was on Sunday. Sounds like it went well. I do not golf… Yet. Maybe someday. A lot of people at work play it. I should get ‘em all to play paintball instead. *SPLAT*

Been playing a new game recently. It’s called Battle Field 2. It’s a lot of fun. The multiplayer aspect of the game is intense. The setting is modern day warfare. There are three sides to choose to fight for. US Marines, Chinese People’s Army, or Middle East Coalition. Whats cool is the ability to take control of vehicles in the game. Planes, tanks, boats, helicopters, buggys, APC, and more. Also, some servers put two teams of 32 people head to head. Some incredible battles insue.

I got me some MultiVitamins. A to Zinc. Been having some problems with my mouth and was told some vitamins could help. Five or six of these a day should do the trick… Worth a shot ehh?

Yum NuttyBars.

Happy Birthday Estes

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

Estes turned 9 years old on July 5th. She’s has been a great addition to our family and provides us with a joy that would otherwise be void.

Here is a picture of her as a puppy.

It’s hard to believe that we almost lost her to a never-determined sickness a few years ago. I’m glad she was strong enough to beat that. smile

Trim

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Before going to bed last night I had let Estes out to do her bidness. Apparently I forgot about her being out there and when I got up a little after noon she was still outside. Thank goodness it was a nice morning. She seemed like she was enjoying herself out there… poor pup.

Today in my routine to get ready for work I got the trimmer out to try to get my sideburns under control. Well it turns out I must not have charged it up the last time I used it. I got about half way through the first ‘burn’ and the darn trimmer died. OH NO!! I scrambled for the charger in hopes to get enough juice into it to allow me to finish trimming for the day. It took some time, but I’m all trimmed up. whew!

Weekend

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

I always seem to wake up much earlier on weekends than I do durning the week and get less sleep than I do during the week. What’s up with that?!

I have a feeling this weekend could particularly bad for sleep. I’ll try to keep track.

Friday Night: 5 hours.
Woke up EARLY on saturday to get into work. Not too many problems there so everything went well. Played some SWG and some BF2. Brian came over to do a little LAN’n. Fun Times!!

Saturday Night: 4 hours.
Woke up on Sunday to Estes freaking out because of some firecrackers. My brother (Mike) showed up home in the afternoon… pleasent surprise. Estes aka Bird Catcher, got a hold of a baby Robin. Mike and I were able to convince Estes to let the bird go… Hostage situation resolved… I think the birdy will live. Mike and I played some old school Day of Defeat for a few hours, had some Pizza Hut pizza and a good time doing it.

Sunday Night: 4 hours
Monday was a slow to rise day. Plans to watch Gladiator while falling asleep the night before did not go well, I don’t think I made it to the opening credits. DOH! Estes took another (maybe the same) Robin hostage. This one she did not give up so easily. It took both Mike and I’s combined effort to get that little bird out of Estes’ mouth. Lil stinker… I still think ‘Estes is the Bestest’. Things died down in SWG for a while so my friend Erica came over to play some Mario Party 6. Tis a fun game for the GameCube. Didn’t watch any fireworks… They just havn’t really ever been my thing… maybe someday. Took care of the laundry… nothing like the smell of fresh laundry. Just finished off the last of the double XP week in SWG. At shutdown Tuesday morning the double XP will be finished until Sony decides to turn it on again. It was great while it lasted!

Time to turn in for the 4th of July Weekend. I’m Tired!!

July Already

Friday, July 1st, 2005

Where does the time gooooo…. Tis already July, and feels like it shouldn’t be. The hot weather recently has been ugly. I’d like to shake the person’s hand that came up with conditioning the air. MY HERO! Eventhough I’ve been trying to stay out of the heat, I have had a couple good runins wiht the lawn mowing fairys and keeping active on my weight machine. Still need to dust off the bike.

You know it’s hot when Estes doesn’t even like to stay outside long. And now that it’s getting closer to the 4th of July… people around the neighborhood have been shooting of some firecrackers. The darn bastages… The firecrackers scare Estes out of her mind. I turn some music on loud for her so it drowns out the *pops*.

I’m fixing up a computer for a friend at work. Its her family’s PC and it’s pretty bogged down with a few viruses and a bunch of spy ware. It has presented a couple new problems that I hadn’t encountered before, so it’s taking me a bit longer than I had hoped, but I think the end result will be victory!

I like potatoes.

I wonder what the long weekend will bring… I hope Brian and I can take advantage of the Double eXPerience (as it ends the morning of the 5th). The weather outlook could be a little better… but as long as I have an internet connection and SWG i’ll be a happy boy.

Fridays at work they usually make popcorn for everyone to enjoy. yum.

Drawing for the raffle is tomorrow too. I hope I can win the $50 card to qicktrip. If not, no biggie… twas for a good cause.
