Games Games Games

Friday, September 24th, 2004

Jim was in town Tuesday night. After getting some Wings at BWW and talking to a nice waitress, We swapped some games… and spent some time playing Locomotion. It is a Translog strategy game. We had a good time figuring it out. We were up until 8am Wednesday morning though… needless to say, that made for a LONG day at work. Brian came over on Wednesday after we got some Legs at BWW. He showed me some of The Sims 2. This game is gonna rock! He also showed me Star Wars Battle Front. All of those war scenes in the movies… well this game puts you into those wars. Fun Stuff! Last night I fired up the XBox and tried out Burnout 3. I think I’m really gonna like this game. The game scores you on near crashes, total destruction through interscetions, and running people you’re racing against off the road… does it get much better than that?!! I think not. I did not get a chance to play Fable yet… I’ll write about that once I get a chance to get some hours in on it.

There has been a squirrel hanging around our backyard… lil bugger is driving Estes bonkers. Although it is taking her attention away from the joggers on the bike path a little bit.

A couple of friends took some pictures of the flooding that happened last week. I’ll put ‘em up really soon. Turns out not all the water ended up in the floor of my car.

Resident Evil Apocalypse (RE2)
I decided I didn’t want to miss this movie when It was still in the theaters. Overall I liked the movie a lot. Seen a lot of zombie movies lately. Weird! As you may or may not know, the movie is based on a popular video game on the Sony Play Station and more recently, the Nintendo Game Cube. Characters from the games can be found in the movies. I have to say that the Resident Evil movies are the best so far of games turned into movies. I have not heard if there will be another sequel… but this game and movie lover sure hopes there are more.

Water Water!

Thursday, September 16th, 2004

I big stom rolled through here on Tuesday. I was planning to go to a Movie after I finished at work… on my way to my car, my plans changed as I got completly drenched! To make things worse, when I got to my car I found 3-4 inches of water on the driver side of the car. UGH!!! When I got up on Wednesday to start the clean-up, I found that almost all the water had somehow drained out. NOT sure how heck that happened… I think some weird voodoo magic was used… who knows. Anyway… I’m gonna try to get to the movie Thursday night. I’m gonna cross my fingers that old man winter… err… April showers… yeah… stay away.

The NFL season has finally started! I’m ready for the Vikings to have a good year. GO TEAM!! Vikes won thier first game… The Offense looked great, but I’m still a little concerned abou their Defense. I think they can only get better from here.

Once again, I Think injuries will determine how well teams do in the NFL this year.

With the NFL starting their regular season, that aslo means that fantasy football is also in full swing. It looks like I will win in week one with big games from Preist Holmes, Thomas Jones and Chad Johnson (spelling?).

Some big news… During my Colorado trip, I finally finished the book False Memory by Dean Koontz. It took me a long time… but I got through it. I enjoyed the book a lot. Thanks Mike. I started another book, Shadow Prey by John Sandford. We’ll see where this book takes me… I hope it doesn’t take as long as False Memory. hehe

Home Again 911

Sunday, September 12th, 2004

Ahhh… Back in Minnesota. We got back home yesterday (Saturday 9/11). Although I like Colorado a bunch, it’s nice to be home.

The trip was great… I had a great time with my parents in Colorado. Very relaxing. The place we stayed in was right along a river in Estes Park Colorado (pictures of the view will be in the gallery).

The drive to and from our destination was a bit long… But I think it’s better to drive rather than fly.

On our trip, we saw A LOT of Elk, Many near the house we stayed in. Elk are quickly becoming on of my favorite animals. Plenty of pictures (and hopefully some videos) will be in my gallery.

We had the opportunity to dine a couple favorite restaurants in the Estes Park. Poppy’s Pizza makes some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Another spot is the Baldpate Inn. It is just a soup and salad type of thing, but It’s very good stuff. The world’s largest key collection also calls the Baldpate Inn its home.

We made a day trip to the little town called Denver. The highlight of this day trip was a Colorado Rockies major league baseball game. They have an excellent stadium there for the Rockies. If the MN Twins had a stadium like that, I think I could enjoy baseball a little more. That night, the Rockies were playing the San Fransico Giants… We saw Barry Bonds hit his 697th homerun. While in Dever, we came into contact with some rather interesting people… lets just keep it at that.

Another day trip was to Mt. Evans. Unfortunately, The road to the top of the mountain was closed when we got to it… Closed becasue of SNOW! eeek! One of two roads closed in Colorado at the time. The other road was Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

One thing I like so much about RMNP is that so much of the park can seen from the car. Many hiking trails if that’s what you’re into as well. As far as photographs go… views can change very quickly because of clouds and the shadows they cast.

… Many of our evenings ended in Rocky Mountain National Park watching Elk. September is the begining of the Elk rut so there is plenty of activity and plenty of bugling.

I got in a lot of souvenir shopping. I’ll be adding those pictures to the Louie’s World section of my Gallery.

Ahhhh… my own bed…

Colorado Bound

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

Tomorrow morning my parents and I are headed to Estes Park Colorado. Should have a great time as it is one of my favorite places to be other than Rochester. I’m gonna have to find a computer there… next week is the first week of Fantasy Football. I have to submit my lineup! oh yeah… GO VIKES!! I got my hair cut today… I always seem to wait too long to get my hair cut. Rick at Classic Cuts does a great job… look him up!

I hope everyone has an excellent week!
