SATurDAY

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

Today was fun-filled!! After 4.5 hours at work… Brian was nice enough to come over to my place to help me work on my computers… well he did most of the working, but I supplied the Pitch Black Mountain Dew. Anyway, we swapped some computer power supplies, got my brothers new computer up and running. We were able to get some files off of his hard drive that went bad (in his old computer).

Brian also got Linux up and running on my P3-500 computer. Windows XP ran a little slow on it, so I figured “what the heck”. I’ll give it a whirl. It will definitely take some getting used to.

Got my new graphics card installed… Haven’t had the chance to do much gaming with it yet… I’ll write more about the card when I get some time to throw a game at it. I was surprised at how heavy the actual card was. BEEFCAKE!! HA!

Been awhile

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

Howdy! Been a while (few days) since I updated this blog thingy. Been keeping busy with the olypics on. I heard tonight that the USA has 72 medals (leaders). Go Team! Besides that, I’ve been trying to breathe some life in the the online gaming clan (IPB) I’m apart of. The next version of one of my favorite games, Counter-Strike, has reached beta. I’ve played quite a bit of it… taking in all the eye candy. I can’t wait for the offical release for Half-Life2 and the next Counter-Strike.

I worked on computer for a lady at work. The spyware bug got her. All cleaned up now though. Lets see how WinXP SP2 helps her out.

Saturday I was pretty Busy. Ran a lot of errands… You’ll have to check out the neat Froggie I got (pictures in the gallery soon). Saturday was also the Southern Minnestoa Fantasy Football League. I think I had a pretty good draft… although I think it’s most dependent on which players can stay healthy all year (and owers responding to the injuries). I hope Preist Holmes can have another great year! Although I’m a Vikings fan first… fantasy football comes second in my book. GO VIKES!!

Work is still crazy! I don’t know how we’ll get all of it done. It usually works out though… some how

Finally got all of the HD Channels to work with my system. Turns out the cable company didn’t have the codes for the channels correct… It only took 5 or 6 different techs to figure it out. Good Job Guys! haha

Friday 9/3 (little over a week from now) my parents and I are going to be leaving for a week in Colorado. I excited to be getting a little break from work. I hope I can get some R and R in. I’ll be sure to bring home some more pictures for my gallery.

Last night my friend Brian started to install Linux on one of my older PCs. We’ll have to see how it goes. I like Windows a lot. Should be a fun experience to say the least.

I heard from my good friend Annie recently. YAY.

Welcome back to the internet Mike!!! haha

I’m in the process of building my brother a new computer for his birthday. His old one crapped out on him. Planning on making a pretty nice rig for him (pretty much my exact rig that I’m using right now). He’ll get a couple ‘hand-me-down’ parts, but they are of good quality so nothing to worry about. He will be getting my current graphics card… because will be upgrading mine to an ATI Radeon 256mg X800 pro. “come on best buy, ship my new card!!”

I hate shaving!!

Quiet

Tuesday, August 17th, 2004

It has been a quiet couple of days. I had a huge headache on Sunday so I didn’t do too much on that day. I think it was becasue of the lack of caffeine in my system. (Here is the dictionary’s definition of caffeine: A bitter white alkaloid, C8H10N4O2, often derived from tea or coffee and used in medicine chiefly as a mild stimulant and to treat certain kinds of headache.) It’s been a few days now without caffeine and I have to say it feels good. Maybe I’ll stay off of it for a while. I was hoping work would be nice and calm after the overtime ran over the weekend, but it isn’t. Tis still crazy at the print place. I’ve slowly been getting the basement back to it’s original setup now the the gamers are out of that room.

Olympics

Saturday, August 14th, 2004

I watched some of the opening ceremonies of the olympics last night. What made this special though is I finally got some HD channels hooked up to my HDTV… Thank goodness the olympics will be broadcast in HD. I can honestly say that I never thought TV could be so pretty. A nice ceremoy too. teeheehee.

Kill Bill whaaaaat??

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

Brian and I watched Kill Bill volume 2 last night. Interesting movie… Not quite as much action in this one as there was in volume 1. A little disapointing in that respect, but it compliments the first volume well. Made the story make much more sense. The first volume left me confused. although that doesn’t take much.

The deck was finished today. I hope to get some good sleep tonight. It’s still wednesday for me.

I heard Taco Bell has their own flavor of Mountain Dew. Has anyone Tried it? Is it good? I think I need to get my ass in there and try it out!

It’s been really chilly here in Rochester, MN lately. Global warming my ass!! I like cool weather a lot though so it’s a welcome change from hot and sticky weather.

I’m STILL working on reading the Dean Koontz book called False Memory. Crazy stuff!! It’s a great book… I just don’t have much time for reading. I really should find more time for it, I have a lot of books on the list to read… and this one is taking up a lot of time… probably going on 4 years now… and yes I sort of still know what’s going on in the book.

Under Construction

Tuesday, August 10th, 2004

Well it’s been busy around our house lately. We are replacing a little deck in the back of our house. The old one was falling apart. Aparently Estes is terified of power tools because she does nothing but yell (bark) at ‘em when they’re running. Needless to say, NO ONE has been sleeping in lately. *yawn* Anyway, I’m gonna miss that little blue deck. Change can be good though right? Also, I’ve started on a redesign of my website. I just have to make sure the gallery will work with the new design, and I’ll be ready to roll!!

Poker - My brother showed me a new deck of cards that he got. They are made out of some sort of plastic. They look pretty darn cool. Supposed to hold up better than the regular playing cards.

Mike left for Houston yesterday. Not sure if he made it or not, haven’t heard from him yet. AAhem! *cough* excuse me, must have had something in my throat.

Going to hang out at Brian’s tonight. It will most certainly be a good time. Always laughing when I’m around that guy!

I was TRYING to help Jim with some computer questions last night. It’s been awhile since I was looking at stuff, so I don’t think I was much help. Oh well.

Hellboy

Sunday, August 8th, 2004

I finally saw HellBoy. I’m not really sure what to think about that movie other than being a little disapointed. I was expecting him to kick a little more ass than he did… He came from hell for goodness sakes!! At least have a fire ball or two of your own instead of having your ‘girl friend’ shoot the fire. Cripes. And just like the movie Hulk… Each movie could have done without the sappy love story twist BS. The assassin was my favorite character of the movie… he wasn’t caught up in any sort of drama. He just kicked ass the whole time.

Mike is headed back to Houston, TX on Monday. I’m sorry to see him go, we had a great time together. We’ll just have to continue our multiplayer gaming sessions over the internet. Oh where does the time go?!!

HuuuWHAT!!??!! YYYEAH!!! OKAAAAY!!

StarCraft

Friday, August 6th, 2004

Mike and I broke out the classic game of StarCraft and whooped up on some computer enemys. I think StarCraft was the first computer game that really got me into the multiplayer stuffs. Then came TFC and then CS. I have been running an online gaming clan (yes CLAN… you Politicly Correct freaks) for a few years now… meeting new people from all over the country or even the world through the internet is an opportuninty that I wouldn’t have otherwise in real life. I have met so many cool people on the internet (through the gaming clan) and some of those people I’ve met in real life. Anyway, for me, it doesn’t get much better than playing a co-op game with a good friend (in the same room or over the internet). Put that in your pipe and smoke it. (I dunno where that came from… shhh)

Work at the print company is incredibly busy! So much to print and so little time! I guess it’s better than not having enough to print. I like having a job. tongue It is amazing to think of how big the world is when a print job takes up hundreds of hours of production time. WOW!

The Olmsted County Fair is just about done… I haven’t heard of many problems so far… although that could be becasue I don’t usually get to see the news… and who wants to read a news paper?! *gasp* I drove near the fair grounds yesterday. It looks like a bunch of chaos to me. I can’t remember the last time I went to the fair… 2 or 3 years. HEHE

Games

Wednesday, August 4th, 2004

Some Gaming news… My run with EverQuest isn’t going as well as I had hoped. The graphics aren’t quite what I’m looking for. Maybe EverQuest2 will be different. I did finally beat Baal in Diablo 2 (normal mode) with the help of Mike. Fun game! I’m looking forward to playing it with the guys. Still have ‘nightmare’ and ‘hell’ modes to complete!!

DOOM 3 is finally out! Just for owning this game, I think it makes me at least a level 6 badass (Katie tongue ). So far I’m pretty impressed with the game. The graphics are amazing… Half Life 2 will have some expectations to live up to. Doom 3 is a very scarry game… It’s almost like living in a horror movie. I lost track of how many times it made me jump last night. OYE!! Although, Playing Doom3 has only wetted my desire to play Half Life 2 that much more. A new graphics card is definitely on my list of things to buy.

I’m in a fantasy football league that John runs. I get the number one pick this year. I hope I don’t botch it up like I did a couple years ago by picking Marshal Faulk. Although how was I to know he would get hurt. Hmmm… who to take with that number one pick.
